Falcons' John Cominsky: No longer on injury report
Cominsky (shoulder) is no longer listed on Atlanta's injury report, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
This latest practice report likely means Cominsky was a healthy scratch in Week 10 against Dallas. He's appeared in just two games this season, logging 17 special-teams snaps and two defensive snaps in Week 1, as well as 14 special-teams snaps in Week 4.... See More ... See Less
Falcons' John Cominsky: Not playing against Dallas
Cominsky (shoulder) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
Cominsky was a limited participant in Friday's session and ultimately won't suit up. The Falcons will be quite thin in terms of defensive depth, and this means Mike Pennel will probably handle a bigger workload than usual.... See More ... See Less

Falcons' John Cominsky: Not on injury report
Cominsky (head) was absent from Wednesday's injury report, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.

Falcons' John Cominsky: Head injury in win
Cominsky was being evaluated for a head injury in the Falcons' preseason game on Friday, Tori McElhaney of The Athletic reports.
The third-year defensive end exited the game in the fourth quarter and did not return. There is still no news on what exactly Cominsky's injury is, but if he's forced to miss time, look for Zac Dawe and Ta'Quon Graham to receive extra practice reps in his stead.... See More ... See Less
Falcons' John Cominsky: Concludes 2020 with 28 tackles
Cominsky, who did not record a tackle during Atlanta's 44-27 Week 17 loss to the Buccaneers, ended the season with 28 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery over 13 games.
Cominsky has inherited a steady rotational role along the defensive line as he enters the third frame of a four-year Falcons contract in 2021. The Charleston (WV) standout saw a huge increase in his usage during 2020, earning the first start of his NFL career while fielding 30.6 defensive snaps per game. As a rookie in 2019, Cominsky logged just 10 defensive snaps per contest while totaling 11 tackles over 10 appearances.... See More ... See Less
Falcons' John Cominsky: Taken off reserve/COVID-19 list
Cominsky (illness) was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday, Jason Butt of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Cominsky has been cleared again after spending two weeks on the reserve/COVID-19 list. The Falcons already played their Week 8 game Thursday, but Cominsky should be able to practice next week and rejoin his teammates on the field in Week 9 against Denver.... See More ... See Less
Falcons' John Cominsky: Lands on COVID list
The Falcons placed Cominsky on the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Cominsky was listed as questionable Friday with what was apparently a non-COVID illness, but it appears he may have contracted the virus or come in close contact with someone infected. The 24-year-old defensive tackle will need to clear the league's COVID-19 protocols before returning to team activities. Chris Slayton and Deadrin Senat are both expected to log increased workloads until Cominsky returns.... See More ... See Less
Falcons' John Cominsky: Questionable heading into Week 6
Cominsky (illness) is listed as questionable with Atlanta entering its Week 6 matchup against the Vikings, Jason Butt of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
The 24-year-old defensive lineman is dealing with a non-COVID-related illness as the 0-5 Falcons lumber into U.S. Bank Stadium to face Minnesota's 15th-ranked scoring offense. Cominsky has contributed little in the pass-rush department since entering the league in 2019, collecting three QB hits and half a sack over 15 appearances. He does, however, have a tackle for loss in consecutive outings coming into Week 6. Whether Cominsky is afforded an opportunity to extend that streak may come down to a game-time decision.... Falcons' John Cominsky: Commended by star teammate
Grady Jarrett says he has been "really, really impressed" with Cominsky in training camp, William McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
Jarrett expanded by stating that he has "100-percent confidence" in the second-year man out of Division-II Charleston (WV), and that "it's night and day" regarding the improvements Cominsky has made to his game since wrapping up his first professional season in late December. Cominsky fielded a mere 10 percent of the defensive snaps during 2019, but based on the fact that both his Pro Bowl teammate and his head coach have noticed serious strides in his skill set, it's likely his 2020 workload will be an increase from last year.... Falcons' John Cominsky: More playing time coming in 2020
Coach Dan Quinn said he expects Cominsky's role to increase during the upcoming season, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
The Falcons were able to bring aboard Dante Fowler to a three-year deal during free agency, but the team is dealing with a flurry of departures elsewhere along the defensive line. Between Vic Beasley, Adrian Clayborn and Jack Crawford leaving in free agency, Atlanta must replace 1,656 defensive snaps. The 24-year-old Cominsky collected 11 tackles, two pass deflections and half a sack across 10 appearances during his rookie year, but he'll likely see an uptick in involvement and production in 2020, so long as Quinn's comments hold true.... Falcons' John Cominsky: Makes 10 appearances as rookie
Cominsky accounted for 11 tackles, two pass deflections, two QB hits and half a sack during his rookie campaign out of Charleston (WV).
The 24-year-old Cominsky earned his way onto the 53-man roster by virtue of a promising preseason display, but he ultimately had just five outings during the regular season with greater than seven defensive snaps. He finished tied for sixth on the team with 12 tackles during the exhibition slate, while logging one sack and a fumble recovery during the preseason opener against Denver. During the regular season, Cominsky missed six games with an ankle injury, but he returned late in the year and played a season-high 54 percent of the snaps during the finale against Tampa Bay. In 2020 the fourth-round draft choice will enter the second term of his four-year deal, striving to transform from reserve-level contributor to more of an integral piece to Atlanta's defensive structure.... Cominsky missed Sunday's game against the Buccaneers due to the injury, and as evidenced by this news, he's shaken off the issue. Barring a setback, expect the 2019 fourth-round pick to suit up in Thursday's game against the Saints in his usual depth role across the defensive line.... See More ... See Less
Falcons' John Cominsky: Ruled out Week 12
Cominsky (ankle) is inactive for the team's Week 12 contest against the Buccaneers.
Cominsky practiced on a limited basis on Thursday and Friday but is set to miss his third consecutive contest. He has played only a depth role along the team's defensive line, so his absence won't have a major impact on Sunday's outcome.... See More ... See Less

Cominsky (ankle) is questionable to play Sunday against the Buccaneers, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
Cominsky practiced as a limited participant Thursday and Friday to earn the questionable tag. The 24-year-old didn't have an injury designation for last week's game against the Panthers after missing the previous game, but he didn't end up seeing the field.... See More ... See Less
