Top Falcons News

  • Falcons' Yasir Abdullah: Moved to IR

The Falcons placed Abdullah (hamstring) on injured reserve Saturday, Tori McElhaney of the team's official site reports.

Abdullah was already ruled out for Sunday's game against the Ravens, but his hamstring injury is severe enough for him to warrant a stint on injured reserve. He'll be required to miss at least the next four games, so the earliest Abdullah can return is Week 9 against the Bengals on Sunday, Nov. 8.

  • Falcons' Za'Darius Smith: Won't play against Baltimore

Smith (concussion/neck) has been downgraded to out for Sunday's game against the Ravens, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.

Smith entered the league's concussion protocol during the Falcons' Week 4 win over the Saints on Monday. He drew the questionable tag after practicing in a limited capacity Friday, but it looks like he won't clear protocol before Sunday's game. Samson Ebukam (hamstring) is also listed as questionable, so Jared Ivey, Bralen Trice and Cameron Thomas are all in line for more defensive snaps against Baltimore. Smith's next chance to play is Week 6 against the Bears on Sunday, Oct. 18.

  • Falcons' Jake Matthews: Iffy for Week 5

Matthews (groin) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Ravens.

Matthews was able to log a full practice Friday, but the Falcons aren't quite ready to clear the veteran offensive lineman for Sunday's game. If he cannot play due to a groin injury, then Michael Jerrell would likely start at left tackle.

  • Falcons' Yasir Abdullah: Won't play against Baltimore

Abdullah (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Ravens, Will McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.

Abdullah was held out of practice all week due to a hamstring injury and will not suit up Sunday, leaving Cameron Thomas and Jared Ivey as the top rotational options on the edge. Abdullah's next chance to play is Week 6 against the Bears on Sunday, Oct. 18.

  • Falcons' Za'Darius Smith: Questionable with concussion

Smith (concussion/neck) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Ravens, Will McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.

Smith was a limited participant in Friday's practice as he continues to deal with a concussion he suffered in the Falcons' win over the Saints on Monday. The linebacker still needs to be cleared for full contact by an independent neurologist. If the 34-year-old still has concussion symptoms Saturday, he will not be able to suit up for Sunday's game.

  • Falcons' Divine Deablo: Questionable for Sunday's contest

Deablo (hamstring) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's game against the Ravens, Will McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.

Deablo was a limited participant in Friday's practice with a hamstring injury. The linebacker played through the injury during the Falcons' blowout win over the Saints on Monday Night Football. Diablo played 81 percent of the Falcons' defensive snaps in the contest and will likely suit up for a similar snap share in Sunday's game against the Ravens.
