Top Chuba Hubbard News

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Two scores in playoff loss

Hubbard rushed the ball 13 times for 46 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 34-31 wild-card round loss to the Rams. He added two receptions on four targets for 13 yards.

Hubbard worked as the clear lead back, out-touching Rico Dowdle 15-6. While he didn't break any explosive plays or work very efficiently, Hubbard did manage to punch in a pair of scores from one and three yards, respectively. He will be a difficult player to assess for 2026, as he worked behind Dowdle for much of the 2025 campaign. However, he regained a more significant role in the offense late in the season, while Dowdle is set to become a free agent.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Meager production on seven touches

Hubbard rushed five times for 10 yards and secured both targets for seven yards in the Panthers' 16-14 loss to the Buccaneers on Saturday.

Hubbard's day was as unproductive as his line suggests, although backfield mate Rico Dowdle fared even worse on the ground (1.4 yards per carry). Hubbard's production saw a significant downturn in 2025 compared to the last two seasons, as a two-game absence in Weeks 5-6 opened the door for Dowdle to take over the lead-back role for an extended period. Hubbard finishes the regular season with 511 rushing yards (3.8 yards per carry) and one touchdown while adding a 30-223-3 receiving line across 15 games, and he'll remain in a timeshare with Dowdle in the wild-card round if the Panthers qualify for the postseason via a Falcons win over the Saints on Sunday.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Seven touches in loss

Hubbard carried the ball four times for 12 yards and caught all three of his targets for six yards in Sunday's 27-10 loss to the Seahawks.

The Panthers' offense couldn't get anything going Sunday until it was too late, and Hubbard wound up with his lowest scrimmage yards total since Week 10, when the Saints held him to just 15 yards. Hubbard hasn't seen double-digit touches in three straight games since Carolina's bye while Rico Dowdle fills the No. 1 role in the backfield, but he may need to step up in Week 18 against the Buccaneers with the NFC South, and a playoff spot, on the line with a Carolina win. Note that the Panthers can also win the division if the Falcons win their next two games, no matter what Carolina does in the finale.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Logs seven touches in win

Hubbard rushed six times for 27 yards and brought in his only target for seven yards in the Panthers' 23-20 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday.

Hubbard logged three fewer carries than Rico Dowdle but gained just two less rushing yards, although neither back made a significant impact fantasy-wise. Hubbard surprisingly broke out for an 83-yard showing on the ground against the Chargers three games ago, but otherwise, he's been capped overall by having to share time with Dowdle. The duo will likely continue working in a close timeshare during a Week 17 home matchup against a tough Seahawks defense.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Held to 38 yards

Hubbard rushed the ball eight times for 29 yards in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Saints. He added one reception on one target for nine yards.

Hubbard looked to be regaining momentum in the Carolina backfield, but he operated as a clear secondary option to Rico Dowdle in Sunday's loss. Hubbard managed only nine touches compared to 17 for Dowdle, and he's now been held below 50 yards from scrimmage in six of the Panthers' last seven games.

  • Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Tops 100 scrimmage yards in win

Hubbard carried the ball 17 times for a team-high 83 yards and caught both his targets for 41 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-28 win over the Rams.

The fifth-year running back topped 100 scrimmage yards for the first time all season and got into the end zone for the first time since Week 8. He turned a screen pass into a 35-yard TD in the first quarter for Carolina's first points of the afternoon. Hubbard's touch volume also tied his season high, and with Rico Dowdle (58 rushing yards on 18 carries) struggling to make an impact in recent weeks, the workload split in the Panthers backfield may be tipping back in Hubbard's favor. The team will be on bye next week, so clarity in the pecking order likely won't come until a Week 15 clash with the Saints.
