49ers' JaMycal Hasty: Signs one-year extension
Hasty signed a one-year contract extension with the 49ers on Thursday.
Hasty appeared in 11 games for the 49ers last year and rushed 16 times for 68 yards and a touchdown while securing 23 of 29 targets for 157 yards. He'll compete for touches as a reserve once again heading into the 2022 campaign.

49ers' JaMycal Hasty: Gains 25 yards in Week 18
Hasty had one carry for four yards and caught two of three targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 27-24 overtime win over the Rams.
Hasty served his usual third-down role with Elijah Mitchell (21-85-0) running at full strength. The 24-year-old stuck in his return/utility role on offense for the entirety of the 2021 campaign, finishing with 225 yards and a touchdown on 39 combined offensive touches across 11 active games. He will continue to spell Mitchell in the playoffs, but he won't be fantasy-relevant unless something catastrophic happens to the 49ers' backfield. Hasty should stick in San Francisco in 2022 given his familiarity with the offense and the low cost to keep him as an exclusive-rights free agent.

49ers' JaMycal Hasty: Limited to seven snaps
Hasty caught his lone target for six yards and did not receive a carry in Sunday's 23-7 win over the Texans.
Elijah Mitchell (knee) returned from a three-game absence and reclaimed the primary tailback role in San Francisco. Hasty was the only other true running back to record a touch, despite playing five less offensive snaps than fellow backup Jeff Wilson. Assuming Mitchell is a full go for Week 18, Hasty will be limited to a small receiving back role against the Rams next Sunday.

49ers' JaMycal Hasty: Nabs three receptions in loss
Hasty had one carry for three yards while collecting all three targets for 26 yards in Thursday's 20-17 loss to the Titans.
Hasty redeemed himself in a third-down role Thursday after turning in his worst performance of the season last week. Elijah Mitchell (knee/concussion) remained sidelined for the third straight game, so Jeff Wilson and wideout Deebo Samuel combined to handle the rushing duties. Hasty may find himself phased out of the offense if Mitchell is able to return for the 49ers' next contest -- which won't take place until a week from Sunday -- as Wilson is a superior rusher and can also handle receiving duties out of the backfield.

49ers' JaMycal Hasty: Coughs up ball Sunday
Hasty rushed once for 13 yards and caught his lone target for three yards while losing a fumble in Sunday's 31-13 win over Atlanta.
Jeff Wilson (21-110-1) handled the bulk of the backfield rushing duties with Elijah Mitchell (knee/concussion) still sidelined, leaving Hasty in a reserve/special teams role. The 25-year-old struggled in his limited role, fumbling away the 49ers' first kickoff return. Mitchell's status for Week 16 still is in question with such a short turnaround before Thursday's matchup against the Titans, but head coach Kyle Shanahan clearly is comfortable rolling with a healthy Wilson and Deebo Samuel heading the rushing attack if Mitchell is unable to go.
