Darius Slayton NYG WR
Giants' Darius Slayton: Held to one catch in Week 16 loss
14m agoSlayton caught one of two targets for eight yards in Sunday's 16-13 loss to Minnesota.
On a day when New York logged 30 rushing plays and went to the air just 13 times, Slayton's eight receiving yards represented nearly a quarter of QB Jaxson Dart's paltry total of 33 passing yards. Slayton also tied for the second-most targets on the team (two), and only No. 1 wideout Wan'Dale Robinson finished with more receiving yards (19). Given the extreme run-heavy approach Sunday, not much should be taken away from any Giants pass-catcher's performance, but it's worth observing that Slayton has logged two or fewer receptions in three of his past four contests. A matchup against the Raiders' uninspiring secondary awaits in Week 17, though it should be interesting to see how both teams approach that game as the "loser" of the contest will have the clear inside track to the No. 1 overall pick in next year's NFL Draft.

Pat Bryant DEN WR
Broncos' Pat Bryant: Released from hospital
18m agoBryant has been released from the local hospital where he was evaluated for a concussion Sunday, after all other tests came back negative, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.
Bryant was carted off the field during during Sunday's 34-20 loss to the Jaguars and had to be evaluated at a hospital, and he's avoided being diagnosed with any neurological injuries other than a concussion. The rookie third-round pick's placement in the five-step concussion protocol makes him a seemingly unlikely candidate to be available Thursday against the Chiefs, after which point the Broncos will close out the regular season in Week 18 at home against the Chargers.

Julian Hill MIA TE
Dolphins' Julian Hill: Not targeted in Week 16
25m agoHill was not targeted during Miami's 45-21 loss to the Bengals on Sunday.
Hill played 47 percent of offensive snaps versus Cincinnati, but it was again both Darren Waller and Greg Dulcich who dominated receiving opportunities at the tight end position for the Dolphins. Expect Hill to continue primarily contributing as a blocker when the Dolphins face off at home against the Buccaneers in Week 17.
-
Brady Cook NYJ QB
Jets' Brady Cook: Named Week 17 starter
29m agoJets head coach Aaron Glenn said Monday that Cook will remain the team's starting quarterback versus the Patriots in Week 17.
Cook struggled during New York's 29-6 loss to the Saints in Week 16, completing 22 of 35 pass attempts for 188 yards and one interception. He also lost one fumble and rushed once for two yards. Across three NFL appearances (two starts) Cook has thrown just one touchdown to go with six interceptions, but he'll get at least one more opportunity under center for New York. Tyrod Taylor operated as Cook's backup in Week 16, but that could tentatively change if Justin Fields (knee) is able to get healthier ahead of facing New England on Sunday, Dec. 28.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling PIT WR
Steelers' Marquez Valdes-Scantling: Targeted three times Sunday
33m agoValdes-Scantling secured one of three targets for six yards during Sunday's 29-24 win over the Lions.
Valdes-Scantling reached the end zone during last week's win over the Dolphins, and he nearly caught a 60-yard touchdown in the third quarter of Sunday's Week 16 victory. However, the ball narrowly slipped through his fingers, and he was shaken up on the play. He returned to the game later in the drive but ultimately finished the matchup with an uninspiring stat line. Valdes-Scantling did rank third among Pittsburgh's wide receivers by playing 42 percent of the team's offensive snaps, but he's secured just two of five targets for 25 yards and a touchdown over his first three appearances with the Steelers.
-
Van Jefferson TEN WR
Titans' Van Jefferson: Two catches in Week 16
39m agoJefferson recorded two catches on two targets for 24 yards in Sunday's 26-9 win over the Chiefs.
Jefferson was questionable entering Sunday's game due to a back injury, but he played his typical allotment of around 70 percent of offensive snaps. He played a complementary role as a pass catcher, though he has had multiple receptions in four of his last six contests.
-
Alexander Canario PIT LF
Alexander Canario: Signs with Japanese team
41m agoThe Seibu Lions of Nippon Professional Baseball signed Canario to a contract Sunday, Yakyu Cosmopolitan reports.
Canario was non-tendered by the Pirates last month after posting a .611 OPS in 87 games for Pittsburgh during the 2025 season. The 25-year-old has slashed just .229/.283/.368 during his limited major-league opportunities and will now try his luck in Japan.

Triston Casas BOS 1B
Red Sox's Triston Casas: Could begin season in minors
1h agoCasas (knee) could begin the season at Triple-A Worcester following Boston's acquisition of Willson Contreras (shoulder), Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
Casas is working his way back from surgery to repair a ruptured left patellar tendon and could be ready to go Opening Day. However, with Contreras added to the mix, the Red Sox could choose to proceed cautiously with Casas, who has minor-league options remaining. A trade of an outfielder (likely Jarren Duran) could allow both Contreras and Casas to play regularly between first base and designated hitter, though Masataka Yoshida also looms as a DH option. A clearer plan for Casas should be revealed during spring training.

Willson Contreras STL C
Red Sox's Willson Contreras: Will split reps at first base/DH
2h agoThe Red Sox plan to have Contreras (shoulder) split his playing time between first base and designated hitter, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
Triston Casas' recovery from a ruptured patellar tendon is coming along well and there's a chance he's ready for Opening Day, but the acquisition of Contreras allows the Red Sox to slow-play Casas, if needed. Contreras is coming back from a shoulder injury of his own but is expected to be fine for spring training. When both players are healthy, they should soak up most of the reps between first base and DH, though Casas does have minor-league options remaining.
-
Hunter Dobbins BOS P
Cardinals' Hunter Dobbins: Traded to Cardinals
15h agoThe Red Sox traded Dobbins (knee) to St. Louis on Sunday as part of a package for first baseman Willson Contreras (shoulder), Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Dobbins had his 2025 campaign cut short when he tore the ACL in his right knee while running to cover first base during a game against the Rays in mid-July. The hurler ultimately underwent surgery and ended the season on the 60-day injured list, though he began a throwing progression in early November and is slated to be ready for the start of spring training. Prior to getting hurt, Dobbins made 13 appearances (11 starts) during his first taste of the majors, posting a 4.13 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 45:17 K:BB across 61 innings. Dobbins could compete for a spot in St. Louis' rotation, but his low-strikeout profile isn't one that typically attracts the attention of fantasy managers.

Willson Contreras STL C
Red Sox's Willson Contreras: Headed to Boston
15h agoSt. Louis traded Contreras (shoulder) to the Red Sox on Sunday for a package that includes pitcher Hunter Dobbins (knee), Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Contreras spent the past three seasons with St. Louis after beginning his career with seven campaigns as a Cub. He transitioned to first base full time last year, with all 120 of his appearances in the field coming at that position after he spent his first nine seasons primarily as a catcher. Contreras reportedly informed Cardinals president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom in September that he was unwilling to waive his no-trade clause, but clearly the 33-year-old has since had a change of heart. He'll fill a considerable gap at first base for the Red Sox, as they lost Abraham Toro to free agency Friday and DFA'd Nathaniel Lowe in November, leaving only the oft-injured Triston Casas (knee) to compete for at-bats. Contreras' loss of catcher eligibility reduces his fantasy appeal considerably, but he showed in his final season in St. Louis that he can still be moderately productive, slashing .257/.344/.447 with 20 home runs, 80 RBI, 70 runs and five stolen bases over 562 plate appearances. He ended the campaign on the IL due to a right shoulder strain, though the injury isn't expected to impact his readiness for spring training.

Vimael Machin BAL 3B
Rockies' Vimael Machin: Nabs MiLB deal with Colorado
20h agoMachin agreed to a minor-league contract with the Rockies on Sunday, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.
The deal includes an invitation to big-league spring training, where the 32-year-old will get the chance to compete for a utility infield role on Colorado's Opening Day roster. For the first time since 2022, Machin resurfaced in the big leagues this past season, appearing in four games for Baltimore in late August and going 1-for-11 with a solo home run and a walk. He spent the bulk of the season at Triple-A Norfolk, slashing .286/.347/.476 with 18 home runs and 15 stolen bases across 504 plate appearances.

Mike Conley MIN PG
Timberwolves' Mike Conley: Serviceable line in return
5m agoConley (Achilles) registered six points (2-6 FG, 2-5 3Pt), six assists, five rebounds, two blocks and one steal across 24 minutes in Sunday's 103-100 win over the Bucks.
Making his return from a four-game absence due to right Achilles tendinopathy, Conley ended up handling a prominent role off the bench and came through with a quality stat line during his time on the court. Conley is averaging 19.3 minutes per game on the season, but the Timberwolves had more playing time up for grabs after Jaden McDaniels (hip) missed the entire second half. Expect the Timberwolves to peel back Conley's minutes a bit if McDaniels is available to play Tuesday against the Knicks.
-
Ziaire Williams BKN SF
Nets' Ziaire Williams: Records three steals
11m agoWilliams registered two points (0-3 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound, one block and three steals over 14 minutes during Sunday's 96-81 win over the Raptors.
Williams hasn't been very involved for the Nets lately, and it's hard to see that changing. Plus, the Nets will be looking to get their rookies more involved down the stretch. Over his last four outings, Williams has averaged 19.9 minutes per contest with 4.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals.
-
Liam McNeeley CHA SF
Hornets' Liam McNeeley: Recalled to NBA
18m agoCharlotte recalled McNeeley from the G League's Greensboro Swarm on Monday.
McNeeley is coming off a productive stint in the G League. During Sunday's 127-117 G League win over the San Diego Clippers, he produced 22 points (6-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 5-7 FT), five rebounds, two assists and two blocks across 32 minutes. He'll be competing with Josh Green for a rotation spot moving forward.
-
Day'Ron Sharpe BKN C
Nets' Day'Ron Sharpe: Fares well off bench
22m agoSharpe notched eight points (3-4 FG, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and four assists across 20 minutes during Sunday's 96-81 victory over the Raptors.
Sharpe has excelled as Nicolas Claxton's backup in Brooklyn. Over his last four outings, he has produced 11th-round fantasy value in just 16.0 minutes per contest with 7.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.0 steals on 58.8 percent shooting from the field.
-
Terance Mann BKN SG
Nets' Terance Mann: Hands out seven assists
28m agoMann racked up five points (2-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt), three rebounds and seven assists over 26 minutes during Sunday's 96-81 victory over the Raptors.
Mann is trending in the right direction and is picking up steam as a waiver-wire pickup. Over his last four games, he's averaging 8.3 points, 4.8 assists, 3.8 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.3 three-pointers in 26.0 minutes, good for eighth-round value in nine-category formats.
-
Collin Murray-Boyles TOR PF
Raptors' Collin Murray-Boyles: Fares well in 19 minutes
37m agoMurray-Boyles closed with eight points (4-8 FG), five rebounds and two assists across 19 minutes during Sunday's 96-81 loss to the Nets.
Jakob Poeltl (back) returned from a two-game absence Sunday, only to leave the game for good after seven minutes due to a setback. That could mean a few more minutes per game for the rookie if Poeltl misses time, but his fantasy appeal has been lacking recently. Over his last five games, Murray-Boyles is averaging 6.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 0.6 blocks in 19.0 minutes per contest.
-
Jacob Fowler MON G
Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Set to start Tuesday
12m agoFowler is slated to start Tuesday's road game against Boston, Patrick Friolet of RDS reports.
Fowler is coming off his first career shutout Saturday against the Penguins, and he'll draw the start in the Canadiens' final game ahead of the holiday break. Across four starts for Montreal this year, Fowler has gone 2-1-1 with a 2.49 GAA and .915 save percentage.
-
Dan Vladar PHI G
Flyers' Dan Vladar: Drawing start Monday
26m agoVladar was the first goalie off during Monday's morning skate, Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports, indicating that he'll draw the home start against Vancouver.
Vladar missed Saturday's game against the Rangers due to an upper-body injury, but he was in the starter's crease during Monday's morning skate and will draw the start in the first half of a back-to-back set. The 28-year-old has been solid in recent outings, going 2-0-2 with a 1.70 GAA and .926 save percentage over his last four starts.
-
John-Jason Peterka UTA RW
Mammoth's JJ Peterka: Nets goal Sunday
45m agoPeterka scored a goal in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Jets.
Peterka hasn't been a consistent goal threat of late, but he's finding ways to get the job done on offense and has cracked the scoresheet in four of Utah's last six games. With 27 points (14 goals, 13 assists) in 38 games, Peterka should remain a valuable offensive weapon for Utah as long as he stays healthy.
-
Aleksei Kolosov PHI G
Flyers' Aleksei Kolosov: Returned to AHL
1h agoKolosov was assigned to AHL Lehigh Valley on Monday.
Due to the absence of Dan Vladar (upper body), Kolosov suited up as Samuel Ersson's backup in Saturday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Rangers. However, Vladar will return to the lineup in Monday's home matchup against Vancouver. Kolosov has a 6-8-1 record with a 2.77 GAA and a .900 save percentage in 15 AHL appearances this season. In two NHL outings this campaign, including one start, he has gone 0-1-0 while stopping 26 of 28 shots.
-
Clayton Keller UTA RW
Mammoth's Clayton Keller: Scores, assists Sunday
1h agoKeller recorded a goal and an assist in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Jets.
Keller scored the game-winning goal just 13 seconds into overtime with a slap shot that went straight past Connor Hellebuyck. It was Keller's second goal in his last three games, but he's been a tad inconsistent of late -- he has failed to crack the scoresheet in six of his 12 contests in December.
-
Morgan Barron WPG C
Jets' Morgan Barron: Scores, dishes seven hits
1h agoBarron recorded a goal and added seven hits in Sunday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Mammoth.
Barron has been getting it done on both ends of the ice of late, tallying points in five of his last six appearances and also delivering multiple hits in all but one game during that stretch. Barron has four goals in that six-game span, a pretty solid output considering he still plays in a bottom-six role. His hot streak could make him a viable streaming option in some formats, though his upside will remain fairly limited due to his role in the lineup.
